Gators, Tasers and Meyer: A Double Standard of Police Brutality?

University of Florida student Andrew Meyer struggles with cops and resists arrest standing up, and he’s the object of national sympathy. Rodney King is beaten into paralysis with nightsticks while on the ground, and a jury in Simi Valley, Calif. acquitted the eight officers involved:

These cops have already been suspended? That was quick. Why haven’t officers who have shot people such as Cincinnati’s Timothy Thomas, New York’s Amadou Diallo and Sean Bell, and Prince George County, Md.’s Prince Jones, Jr. (with guns, not tasers, and in none of the cases were the officers struggling with the victims) been suspended immediately?
