Author Bijan C. Bayne has been involved in youth and reading at every level from mentoring, afterschool writing programs, book fairs, school visits, to presenting at statewide literature conferences. One of his topics is Using Sports to Engage Young Readers. All across American and Canada, schoolteachers, librarians, and media specialists struggle to face the challenge of interesting young boys in books. Reading comprehension, writing ability, vocabulary, and communications skills will serve young men well as they enter adulthood. Based on his varied experience, Bayne illuminates educators and librarians as to how males may be encouraged to value the written word.
