The Stephenville Incident: Texas UFO Answer Raises Questions

January 23, 2008 - No Responses

We filed this under the “Oh yeah, right,” category:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/01/23/airforce.ufo/index.html

First no explanation, and no aircraft in the area, but now that news buzz persists and “Larry King Live” has addressed the topic, it’s “…F-16’s…”

Umm hmm.

Writers’ Revolution: The Oscars Will Not be Televised

January 22, 2008 - No Responses

The Academy Award nominations have been named. Ruby Dee earned a Best Supporting Actress nod for the shortest screen time in the history of the honor (and the slap heard ’round the world). Her co-star didn’t. The important question is, will the writers’ strike be settled in time to broadcast the proceedings?

And will Hillary slap Obama?

Au Revoir, Dame Suzanne

Goodbye to actress Suzanne Pleshette, who was 70. The other night our local PBS station aired a special about Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ life, and we thought of Pleshette as another Franco-American beauty. Where Bouvier possessed a whisper, Pleshette had that throaty feminine voice- the Demi Moore of her day (hey, Demi’s a French name).

Talk about a boyhood crush. Those flicks with Dean Jones and such. And when we were older, “The Birds” on t.v. “Mr. Buddwing” and such. Girlfriend was so fine she has graced the header image of this very blog. Pleshette was created for the large, black and white movie screen, her genre before “…Bob Newhart…” fame. She was also funny, which led to her tube longevity and appeal.

(also dead, t.v. “best friend” character actor Allan Melvin, who played buddies on series from “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” and “The Brady Bunch”- the latter in which he was Alice the maid’s beau. Melvin was a master at what he did, and he also had a memorable voice)

Mormon Jackpot: AP Calls Win for Romney in Nevada

January 19, 2008 - No Responses

Where 25% of the GOP voters are Mormons:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/19/nevada.sc.main/index.html

Did you see all the prostitutes for Paul (candidate Ron, not the Biblical apostle) at The Bunny Ranch on “Nightline” last night? Hilarious, but the one was very well-versed on the issues. Problem with Romney re- post Michigan-Nevada momentum is that either Hucakebee or McCain will take snowy South Carolina, which is holding a primary, not a caucus. Then the big states come, where Rudy has tried to work his all-for-nothing strategy. How will Mitt play in some of those?

That’s worse than what happened to the original sportscaster (she was suspended). We take no side in the matter- not having a dog in the fight- but it’s odd- like an unrelated party losing a job over what Imus said about the Rutgers’ ladies basketball team.
